Biography

Hello,

My name is Jared Christiansen and I’m excited to be running to be your next DFL representative for Burnsville and Savage.

I’m originally from Ellsworth, Wisconsin and grew up in a hard-working, blue-collar family. My parents had lost their jobs and were victims of predatory lending. They ultimately lost their home, so I understand the hardships many families face.

I stepped up and took my first job when I was 15 1/2 years old at McDonald’s. When I was 17, I went through their renowned and professional management development program and served as a shift manager for two years. Afterward, I became a flight attendant for three years so I could travel the world, experience many different cultures, and learn many lessons. While a flight attendant, I attended Inver Hills Community College and took classes in anthropology, political science, biology, and religion. I received my Associate of Arts degree and then transferred to the University of Minnesota to pursue my Bachelor’s degree. I will be graduating in May of 2017 and am currently a part-time manager at Famous Footwear.

I believe in working together and finding solutions to the pressing needs of our district. We must focus on creating jobs, investing in infrastructure, and providing a quality education for our children. However, we can’t be like my opponent and just think about the now. We must focus on the future needs of our district and what our children and their children will need. As your representative, I will listen to how you think we should solve the current issues. We need to set aside strong partisanship and use common sense to propel the Twin Cities, and our state, into the future.

I look forward to your support and your vote, so we can build a brighter tomorrow, starting today!
